DOL NEEDS RESTAURANT FEEDBACK ON TIP POOLING RULES

We’ve told you about recent changes to the tip pooling laws allowing employers to control how tips are distributed, with certain restrictions. Well, this issue has the attention of the Dept of Labor and they are seeking the views of the public on the proposed changes by January 4. Make your voice heard at the Federal level!

ADVOCACY THROUGH FOOD: BLUE RIBBON LEGISLATIVE RECEPTION

Commonly referred to as the most popular reception of the season among legislators, the CRA Blue Ribbon Reception always draws a large crowd. Restaurants are a powerful economic force, yet legislators and special interest groups introduce dozens of bills and regulations each year that could hurt the ability of restaurants to stay open. Join us at our annual CRA Blue Ribbon Legislative Reception to kick off the 2018 legislative session and show our state legislators the full force of our industry!  Register Today!

Wednesday, January 10 | 6:00 – 8:00 pm
History Colorado Museum, 1200 Broadway, Denver 80203

Want to engage in another way? We are actively recruiting restaurants to participate in this year’s event.  Participating restaurants must be able to provide 250 tastes, your own serving and cooking equipment and staff. If you are interested in participating, please complete this form.  Any questions, contact Nicolle Montgomery at (303) 830-2972 or nmontgomery@corestaurant.org

WINTER MONTHS ARE APPROACHING. HOW TO PREVENT SLIPS, TRIPS & FALLS

It’s true! More than 3 million food service employees and over 1 million guests are injured annually as a result of restaurant slips and falls. Food, water, ice, snow, dirt, sand, and more, can prove to be recipes for disaster. Many of these injuries are serious, including broken bones, head injuries, twisted ankles and knees, muscle strains and cuts. According to the National Floor Safety Institute, the hospitality industry spends over $2 billion on such injuries each year and these injuries are increasing at a rate of about 10% annually.
